The Man Who Wrote Freedom While Owning 600 People
I visited Monticello expecting a beautiful historical landmark. I left angry. Thomas Jefferson wrote 'all men are created equal' while enslaving over 600 people, living lavishly on debt, and building a French fantasy on the backs of the people he claimed deserved liberty. This is what they didn't teach me in school.
